Arclid SQ, Sandbach = Canada Geese = 50, Coot = 40, Greylag Geese = 47, Lapwing = 38, Lesser Black-backed Gull = 150, Mall ard = 67, Tufted Duck = 93 and Yellow Legged Gull = 1.

Burleydam Pool near Whitchurch = Garganey = 1, Lapwing = 40, Little Grebe = 6, Shoveley = 5, Teal = 29 and Wigeon = 41.

Hurleston Reservoir, Nantwich = Canada Geese = 345, Mallard = 25 and Tufted Duck = 13.

Nantwich Boating Lake = Black headed Gull = 41 and Mallard = 120.

Wollfall pool near Audlem = Canada Geese = 310, Greylag Geese = 24 and Mallard = 75.

Cheshire Swan Study Group Ringing September 2018

During September the Cheshire Swan Study Group ringed a total of 18 Mute Swans. These consisted of 13 Cygnets, 2 Second years, 1 Third year and 2 Adults. There was one Retrap.

The Highest Site counts for September were as follows:-

Acre Dell Pools near Congleton = 66 on 9th.

Bottom Flash, Winsford = 4 on 22nd.

Comber Mere near Whitchurch = 42 on 24th.

Doddington Mere near Nantwich = 46 on 27th.

Canal, Middlewich = 16 on 28th.

Lowest Night Temperature = + 1.7 Degrees Centigrade = 25th.

Highest Day Temperature = 25.8 Degrees Centigrade = 2nd.

Average Minimum Temperature = 8.7 C (Av. = 9.1 C).

Average Maximum Temperature = 17.9 C (Av. = 22.9 C).

Highest Wind Gust Speed = 25 MPH = SW = 19th.

Comber Mere near Whitchurch = Coot = 86, Greylag Geese = 63, Mallard = 45 and Mute Swans = 52.

Queens Park Lale,Crewe = Black – headed Gulls = 49, Canada Geese = 83 and Mallard = 123.

During August the Cheshire Swan Study Group ringed a total of 6 swans. These were made up from 5 second years and one adult. There was one retrap.

Bottom Flash, Winsford = 6 on 1st.

Burleydam Pool near Whitchurch = 9 on 20th.

Comber Mere near Whitchurch = 45 on 20th.

Coole Pilate near Nantwich = 6 on 7th.

Doddington Mere near Nantwich = 61 on 4th.
